DOCTORS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS STATEMENT AND CALL FOR MEDICAL SUPPORT IN GAZA

As AdventHealth staff members, we believe wholeheartedly in the mission statement of our organization - Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ. It is in that spirit that we draw your attention to the ongoing disaster in Gaza and ask that you commit to delivering humanitarian aid to the region. Over the past three months, at least 28,000 people have been killed and an astounding 70% of them are women and children. An additional 71,000 are injured and in desperate need of medical care.

We are witnessing one of the most horrific, large-scale human tragedies in recent memory. Only 14 hospitals out of the original 36 are even partially functional.The two major hospitals in southern Gaza are operating at three times their bed capacity, running out of supplies and sheltering thousands of displaced people.Over 300 healthcare workers have lost their lives while performing their duties in trying to save others.

As healthcare providers, we recognize the overwhelming burden placed on the limited medical resources available in Gaza. Hospitals are in desperate need of life-saving medicines, fuel and equipment. As healthcare practitioners, we answered the noble call to alleviate human suffering - a call that grows louder by the day.

We humbly ask our leadership to be the guiding light in extending The Healing Ministry of Christ and to exemplify the gentle, healing touch of Jesus. It is the obligation of our medical community to assist those who are suffering with the knowledge, expertise, and finances that God has granted us individually and as an organization. We ask you to commit to swiftly delivering humanitarian assistance and medical aid to the region and we look forward to working with you to achieve that goal.
